He is my delight.

I delight to sit with Him, just be with Him, delight in His presence warming the air around me, warming my heart.

I delight to hear His voice, through love words scribed on pages all His own. His words are honey to my soul, elixir sweet, I drink them down, savoring each swallow with all my being.

I delight to walk with Him, on smooth paths or stony, for it is His presence, His clasping of my hand, the encircling of His arm, that holds me up and keeps my foot from stumbling.

He has given me every delight of time and earth and eternity, some to joy in here, in this mortal shell, but oh, the joy that will engulf when in Timelessness, unhindered I will see His face!

“In Your presence is fullness of joy. At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

“Delight yourself in the LORD and He shall give you the desires of your heart”

— He shall be the desires of your heart.

Reveling in my desire, here this early morning.

Scripture references:  Psalm 16:11 and Psalm 37:4.

    1. Joy and Eileen, I think it’s just because that’s right where my heart was at the time, and it all just rolled out. I guess you could call it just that: a psalm from my heart. Oh, to have my heart there all the time! Thanking God for your visit and comments. Many blessings in Him!

  1. “…oh, the joy that will engulf when in Timelessness, unhindered I will see His face!”

With all the different approaches to “delight,” I hadn’t yet thought of the delight we will experience when we finally get to see Him, face to face.

    Beautiful.

    1. Denise, I realized a few years ago my viewpoint was too earth-bound, and started trying grasp whatever Eternity views scripture gave. That proved such help when I learned my eyesight is supposed to progress relentlessly to blindness. Immediately this verse came to mind: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him”(1 Cr 2:9). I may lose my earthly vision, but wow, what a view I’m going to get “someday”! These things have me doing more upward gazing.
Thanks again for stopping and commenting. I always enjoy a visit from you. 🙂

  2. I love “He will BE the desires of your heart.” Just thinking of that brings joy. I want Jesus more than anything. He’s my desire.

    Blessings,
    Pamela

  3. Ms Kathleen,
Yes, what an assuring and comforting thought that, as we delight in Him, as we delight in those little children in our lives that give us such bubbling joy, He also delights in us! I don’t like to overuse “awesome,” but that *is* awesome! Glad you stopped to visit.

  4. Yes, Pamela, amen! When we delight in His blessings but not in Him, all we get to enjoy are those momentary things, but when we delight in Him, Himself, we get that higher pleasure, plus all the momentary blessings as well. The best! Thanks for stopping and commenting. God bless!

  5. I’m so happy you post early. I begin my day with this. Each post and comment section I learn more.

    Bless you. Sylvia!

    1. And bless you, too, Dawn! I just visited your blog, clicked the link, and didn’t get back yet to comment… but for now, here: I think you’re inspiring me to take Ashley Sisk’s photo challenge. I had no clue what to do for trending, so I thought I’d wait till next week, but you’re knocked down that barrier wall! 🙂 And yes, early morning’s great for blogging. It’s usually the second thing I do.
      Blessings on your weekend, friend!

    1. Yeah, Laura, it’s like a parent who really wants to give a special gift to his child, and wants her to really enjoy it, kind of planting suggestions in her mind (Oh, look at that nice ____. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have…) before he gives the gift. Thanks for visiting and commenting!
